Life and Works

Many of the biographies in the first section of this chapter are aimed at the general public, and are derived from the same sources, such as Kalbeck’s lifeand-works monograph (no. 365). With the exception of May (no. 224), the most important biographies are contained within volumes on both Brahms’s life and works, which are listed in the second half of the chapter.
