ABSTRACT
FOREGROUNDING THE QUESTION A fundamental resource of cultural studies is “the question.” Questions both interrogate and disrupt. Through whatever mode they are presented, questions are the keys to using cultural studies in the dramatic artswhether representations through body, discourse, institutional structure, histories (autobiographical and biographical), staging, lighting, blocking, acting, scripted or nonscripted material before, during, and after the rehearsal or performance.
