ABSTRACT
Herman Lynn Womack was perhaps the first gay man to head a publishing house dedicated solely to gay men’s literature and photography. Despite considerable resistance from homophile organizations and continued prosecution from the federal government, Womack’s publishing empire extended from the early 1950s into the 1970s.
