ABSTRACT

Currently teaching creative writing at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Mark Doty has also taught at Sarah Lawrence College, Brandeis University, and the University of Iowa Writer’s Workshop. To date he has published four books of poetry-Turtle, Swan (1987), Bethlehem in Broad Daylight (1991), My Alexandria (1993), and Atlantis (1995)—and one memoir of his lover, Wally Roberts, entitled Heaven’s Coast (1997). His work has garnered such prestigious prizes as the National Book Critics Circle Award, the Los Angeles Times Book Award, and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Guggenheim and Ingram Merrill Foundations.
