ABSTRACT

Facts George Blake was employed by the British intelligence service, but betrayed his country and became an agent for the Soviet Union. He was tried and imprisoned for treason, but escaped from prison in 1966 and fled to Moscow, where he wrote his autobiography. The book was published by the English publishers, Jonathan Cape Ltd, and sold well. The Attorney General brought proceedings against Blake and his publisher, with a view to preventing the payment of approximately £90,000 of royalties to Blake.
