ABSTRACT

The Philippines, or the P.I. as it is sometimes called, consists of more than 7,000 islands. But it has just three main areas. In the north is Luzon, the biggest island, where Manila is located. In the south is the island of Mindanao, which is almost as big, and where about one quarter of the people are Muslims. Then in the middle is a group of many islands called the Visayas, or Bisayas, as Filipions prefer to call them. The word means “slaves” from the Indian. Many women are named Luzviminda. It’s sort of a nationalistic thing.
