ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a comprehensive data set on the hitherto 372 postwar elections in the forty-four cases examined. In terms of the number of elections held, Denmark clearly stands out with the most, at twenty-two. In contrast, for Eastern and Central European countries only two to four post-democratization elections have occurred so far. Information is given case by case. The variables given, and their lowest and highest values in specific elections, are as follows:

Elections. Election dates are given in the form day(s)/month(s)/ year. When more than a single date is given, this reflects the fact that there were multiple rounds of voting on the given dates. However, if, for example, problems in a tiny number of constituencies led to new elections in these and only these, then just the original election date is given.
