ABSTRACT
In some hospitals repair of facial wounds is handed over to a specialist service (fax-max/plastic surgery). This is often the best option as these specialists are likely to be more expert in the wound repair techniques which minimise scarring. Serious consideration should always be given to referring a significant facial wound in a child to the plastic/fax-max surgeon.
