ABSTRACT
The presence of a tiny foreign body (FB) in the eye often causes intense discomfort. Most FBs are easily removed with the aid of a damp cotton bud, sometimes with the use of a local anaesthetic. But if the FB is not immediately identified, the lids should be everted over a small glass rod to ensure that the fragment is not positioned out of sight.
