ABSTRACT

The normal management of a dislocation would be as follows: (a) confirm the diagnosis with an X-ray to ensure you are not dealing with an

associated fracture/dislocation; (b) anaesthetise; (c) reduce the dislocation; (d) confirm that the dislocation has been reduced with a further X-ray (a post-

reduction film); (e) support and or immobilise the reduced joint as necessary; and (f) review and rehabilitate in the fracture clinic and physiotherapy

department.
