ABSTRACT

It was postulated that, by taking children’s blood pressure once a year, it would be possible to track those patients who would eventually develop blood pressure later in life and, by salt restriction, etc, reduce this likelihood. However, tracking of children in this way in the US has not proven to be of any value at all. It is rare, therefore, to take children’s blood pressure regularly, but it is important to take it if a child presents with symptoms such as headache.
