ABSTRACT
This tachycardia is singled out because it is so common, and two important points must be made. In atrial fibrillation the atria are quivering and not contracting. In certain circumstances this allows a clot to form on the atrial wall which may result in an embolus and possible stroke. In these situations long term anticoagulation using warfarin must be considered.
