ABSTRACT

In principle, advertising was restricted only to informing the public in a more or less artistic manner, using certain decorative elements and images in colour, although the ultimate purpose was mainly to capture the public’s attention. In this sense, and as provided by the Statute of Advertising 1964, ‘advertising activity was any dissemination destined to direct the public’s attention or the attention of the media towards a specific person, product or service, with the purpose of promoting an acquisition or a contract either immediately or at a later date’.
