ABSTRACT

Kenny is a penetrating and dynamic poet often associated with the Native American Renaissance. His writing and editorial work have influenced many Native and non-Native writers toward an appreciation of Native American values and political insights. While completing over fifteen volumes of poetry and prose, editing and contributing to anthologies, coediting the magazine Contact II , publishing books for Strawberry Press and Contact II Press, teaching, and working on numerous other projects, he has maintained an intensely active public reading schedule through which he has promoted Native writers and Native publications all over the country. His work has been widely acclaimed and his influence widespread.
