ABSTRACT

Although he was born and educated in the United States, Thomas King has become one of the foremost writers of fiction about Canada’s Native people. Born in Sacramento in 1943, King was raised in Roseville, California. He is the son of Kathryn K.King, whose ancestry is Greek and German, and Robert Hunt King, whose ancestry is Cherokee. From 1970 to 1981, King was married to Kristine Adams. Their son, Christian King, was born in 1971. He and his partner, Helen Hoy, currently reside in St. Paul with their two children, Benjamin Hoy (b. 1985) and Elizabeth King (b. 1988).
