ABSTRACT

Aboriginal Legal Cultures The claims for recognition of Aboriginal legal cultures, for self-determination or political autonomy built on these cultures, for recognition of Aboriginal identity, differences, or authenticity, as an alternative or substitute to the established legal order of the state, today are challenging the legitimacy of modern legal philosophy. In this sense, we are the contemporary witnesses of an Aboriginal revolution. This revolution has produced, especially in the United States and Canada, an official legal recognition of Aboriginal legal cultures.
