ABSTRACT
The celebrated case of Rex v Bourne in 1938 established grounds to terminate a pregnancy where there was a serious risk to the mother’s mental or physical health.
Termination of pregnancy is allowed under the 1967 Abortion Act which amended the law and is the basis of the current situation.
