ABSTRACT
The term, space occupying lesion (SOL), is used to identify any lesion which increases the volume of the intracranial contents and thus leads to a rise in intracranial pressure. This terminology therefore embraces not only intracranial tumours (malignant or benign), but also encompasses vascular lesions and inflammatory lesions (for example, abscess).
