ABSTRACT
Headache is amongst the commonest symptoms described by patients to their general practitioners, and some 20% of males and 50% of females describe headache on a least one day each week. It is always important to ask the patient to describe what they mean by headache, since no two patients have the same perception of a headache. A patient presenting with headache requires careful consideration of the history, and may well require investigation.
