ABSTRACT
In accordance with the circular ‘Protection of Children: Disclosure of Criminal Background of Those with Access to Children’, a local authority or voluntary organisation is required to check with local police forces about the possible criminal backgrounds of those people who apply to work with children including prospective members of staff, volunteers, child minders, those providing day care and foster parents.
