ABSTRACT
A conviction will follow where the magistrates or the jury have found the accused guilty or where the accused pleaded guilty. In many cases the court will not proceed to sentence the accused at this time, and in some circumstances the court is required to adjourn the matter in order for post-conviction reports should be prepared. Where this occurs the accused can either be remanded in custody or released on conditional or unconditional bail.
