ABSTRACT

Your students are young citizens of the world, who, like us, inhabit an increasingly shrinking globe, one in which there is a rapid evolution of trade, communications, environmental changes, and all manner of issues. Knowledge itself is increasingly available to nearly everyone through the internet and world-wide news coverage, and governments have to work very hard to keep secrets from their own populations. In short, the whole world is in touch with each other and there are all types of exchanges-ecological, social, political, and economic-down to the very basics of existence such as food, clothing, and shelter.
