ABSTRACT
This means that, in direct contradiction to the separation of powers, we hold our legislature, as studied in Chapter 2, to be the supreme power within the state. Yet as we will see, for many commentators our constitution has evolved beyond this theoretical foundation to the extent that it is now not the legislature which controls the executive but rather the executive, through its domination of the party machine, which controls the legislature.
