ABSTRACT
Attitudes toward assessment reflect the way teachers think about their goals, their students, and teaching social studies. This chapter includes discussion and examples of both traditional and alternative methods of assessing
student learning. I hope it provides teachers and pre-service teachers with an opportunity to assess their own thinking about the ideas and issues raised in this book.
