NB: Time limits are stated in broad terms only. Cases can be dismissed for delay even if within the time limit. In some limited situations, the time limit is beyond that which is stated, eg, by reference to the close wording of the statute as it applies to the facts, extending statutory provisions or case law on continuing offences.
