ABSTRACT
The femur can be fractured in breech deliveries if the legs are extended, that is, when the fetus is ‘folded in half’ with the legs straight and pointing upwards so the feet are above the head. Manoeuvres to bring down the legs to allow delivery of the baby may result in fractures.
