ABSTRACT

There are two areas of potential litigation with regard to accidental injury. The first relates to the liability of those who may be partly or wholly responsible for the accident. The second is the consequences of medical treatment. The liability for the accident may be the driver of the car, which may indeed be a parent in the case of children, it may be the driver of another car, or it may be a company or corporation. This may be true, for example, in accidents involving displaced paving stones, missing railings that are the responsibility of the local council, or accidents within private or public buildings such as hospitals or schools. The discussion of such liability is outwith the scope of this book.
