ABSTRACT

Introduction Surveys are a popular way for student researchers and experienced researchers alike to gather data for their studies. With the emergence of free Internet surveying software and the proliferation of academic and professional list servers, surveying certainly seems to be an efficient way to reach a large sample and collect a relatively large body of data. But unless correctly designed, implemented, and analyzed, a survey can result in a botched opportunity at best or a misrepresentation of a population at worst.
