ABSTRACT
Introduction Chapter 6 explored surveys in terms of what they can measure, what kinds of questions they can ask, how questions can be formatted, and how they should be structured. In Chapter 6 we also discussed how to report results, looking especially at frequency distribution, response rate, and margin of error and confidence intervals. In this chapter, we examine in detail a journal article that reports the results of a survey. The chapter contains the full text of Sam Dragga’s “‘Is this ethical?’ A survey of opinion on principles and practices of document design,” which appeared in the August 1996 issue of Technical Communication, along with a commentary on the article.
