ABSTRACT

In August, 2005 the future of journalism and the environment appeared to arrive in New

Orleans with terrifying suddenness. Even before Hurricane Katrina struck both the

environment and journalism were being shaken by impending change. Media experts say

that in the coming years newspapers and television news stations may die and be replaced

by online news sources. Meanwhile scientists warned that climate change may melt the

polar ice caps, causing increased coastal flooding and possibly more violent storms.
