ABSTRACT

Complementing the literature reviewed in chapter 2, this chapter discusses various theoretical, contextual, and methodological considerations that serve as foundations for political communication research centered on Latinos. The aim is to enhance the frameworks used to research and better understand (a) what influences people, in this case Latinos, to engage in the political dynamics of the United States (e.g., gain knowledge about issues and candidates, attend rallies, mobilize, vote, and other related political orientations and activities), and (b) the role of the media in such processes.
