ABSTRACT

The teaching of writing has undergone many changes in the last 25 years. Older students and parents may not be familiar with the new approaches that allow experimenting and creativity. Moreover, parents and students, schooled outside the United States may not be familiar with these approaches either. Teachers need to help students transition to the new ways of learning to write and be clear to parents about their approach and goals. The approaches included in this section help students develop and practice their writing in meaningful ways. There is much opportunity for oral expression (or singing), and reading, as well.
