ABSTRACT
The first records dealing with adding or subtracting the same magnitude on both sides of an equation are found in the Arabic writings of Al-Khowarizmi [https://www .groups.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/%7Ehistory/Math ematicians/AI-Khwarizmi.html] (Mohammed ben Musa, which means Mahomet, the son of Moses) about 830 A.D.
