ABSTRACT

The Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Resources for Calculus Collection, source of the earlier quotes in this chapter, was developed through a consortium of liberal arts colleges. One of the underlying premises to this work relates to the preparation of secondary teachers of mathematics. The writers developed the Calculus Collection from the vantage point that most secondary teachers seek the opportunity to teach calculus, much like graduate faculty members crave the opportunity to teach an advanced course in their area of specialization.
