ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with the basic building blocks of land law: what we actually own; and what we convey when we sell it. In two dimensional terms, the limits of our land are demarcated by its boundaries (which are discussed in Chapter 3). Section 1.1 provides the third dimension – it tells us how high and how deep our land is; it gives the statutory definition of land; and it explains when a chattel may become part of it.
