ABSTRACT

Chapter 7 covered the processes each individual assessor carries out to observe behaviors in individual exercises and classify behaviors into performance dimensions. Up to this point, the process is essentially one of individual judgment. That is, behaviors are recorded and ratings are possibly made by individual assessors as they watch participants in the exercises. We now turn to the processes by which the observations and evaluations of the group of assessors are integrated across assessors, exercises, and dimensions to determine ratings and feedback, as applicable. We trace the historical trend of integration procedures and see a movement from judgmental and holistic processes to statistical and molecular processes. A return to pure behavioral feedback is evidenced in some developmental assessment centers.
