ABSTRACT
This chapter will consider evidence of discrimination on three of the protected grounds-those of race, sex and sexual orientation-within the criminal law and the criminal justice process. The areas considered are outside the anti-discrimination legislation considered in Chapter 16. As that chapter demonstrated, many aspects of discrimination on grounds of race have now been brought within the Race Relations Act (RRA) after its amendment in 2000 and, therefore, those aspects will not be considered here.
