ABSTRACT

Whether one is a professional athlete or a weekend warrior, almost every participant incurs physical injury at one time or another. Sports such as football and ice hockey result in more frequent and severe injuries than others, due to the frequent physical contact between players. Auto racing displays particular danger because of the limited space between drivers racing around an oval track at high speeds. Activities not associated with physical contact also have the risk of injury-recreational jogging and tennis come to mind. Even spectators at sporting events also suffer injuries.
