ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we examine the rules which govern the form and content of the indictment upon which a Crown Court trial is based. The key legislative provisions governing the form and content of indictments are to be found in ss 3 and 5 of the Indictments Act 1915, s 2 of the Administration of Justice (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1933, and in rr 4-9 of the Indictment Rules 1971 (SI 1971/1253).
