ABSTRACT

The message in Kadison’s chilling quote, although shocking to most, has become all too familiar to administrators of counseling centers and their staff. For well over a decade, this message has emerged as the formidable challenge, at times daunting, for counseling center staff as they attempt to meet the needs of university students. At the center of the maelstrom, the center director is charged with navigating a course of responsive action, often in a context of restricted staffing and marginal budgets, and an ever-changing student/campus landscape.
