ABSTRACT
The rate for default interest is usually higher than for normal interest, often by 1% .
A reasonable rate increase will not be considered void as a penalty by the courts.
The rate should compensate the lender for additional expense due to the bor-
rower’s default, eg: funding the repayment of the lender’s interbank deposit.
