ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a family researcher’s perspective of the links between work and
family by reviewing the literature on the effects of work on families, using the ecological
framework of Bronfenbrenner (1986, 1979, 1997) and by suggesting new areas for
research, particularly areas that involve an international perspective in a research area
dominated by U.S.-based insights into work and family.
