ABSTRACT

How should a good teacher proceed? In the good old days, teachers simply talked and students wrote down what they said. (Unfortunately, to a large extent, those good old days are still with us.) Today, teachers fret about preparing their students for state administered exams that have serious consequences for those who fail. Neither lecturing nor test preparation should be confused with teaching. What should teaching be like?

I am always ready to learn, but I do not always like being taught.

Sir Winston Churchill
