ABSTRACT

The primary focus and objective of this book has been to review recent literature in learning science and explore its potential for developing more effective ways of teaching in colleges and universities. This book was organized to build a systematic case for adopting a particular version of constructivism-transactional constructivism-to inform undergraduate education reform. Although I have addressed the book to an audience of professors who are interested in reforming their own teaching, I am aware that broader education reform will require intervention on the systems level. This chapter explores issues related to curriculum reform in higher education.
