Developmentalpsychologistsarequicktotalkaboutmatterssuchasemotionaldevelopment,socialdevelopment,personalitydevelopment,and cognitivedevelopment.Becausemostpeoplesharethenotionthatchildren developtowardmaturity,suchterminologymaybeuncriticallyaccepted. AsdiscussedintheIntroduction,however,psychologicalmaturityisamore problematicalnotionthanphysicalmaturity.Thisraisesquestionsabout whatismeantbypsychologicaldevelopment.
