ABSTRACT
Elsbeth Stagel is perhaps best known for her association with the mystic Heinrich Seuse (Suso), whom she met ca. 1336. Their twenty-five year long relationship, documented by their correspondence, is one of the famous spiritual friendships of the Middle Ages. Seuse, also known as "Amandus," is often seen as the minnesinger among the German mystics.
