ABSTRACT

Suzy Buckley grew up in suburban Chicago in the late 1980s and early 1990s and didn’t imagine herself as a magazine journalist covering the late nights and glitzy celebrities of South Beach and South Florida. She did read a lot of magazines, especially Vogue and the now-closed Taxi, but she imagined herself as a “rock star” and even played in a garage band in high school. When she was in college at the University of Miami, she majored in public relations and envisioned herself on a somewhat different career track.
