ABSTRACT

Following the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, The New York Times began publishing special sections devoted to ongoing developments in this major international news story both down the street from the newsroom of the newspaper as well as halfway around the world. Some portions of the coverage focused on the lives of the people who died. The stories were brief profiles and sketches of the more than 3,000 victims. The features were reported and written by The New York Times staff writers.
