ABSTRACT

In chapter 1, I talked about generating research questions and searching for answers by looking into previous research. This chapter shows how you can find research studies that might provide potential answers to your questions. I first identify some of the main sources where you can find such research along with examples that walk you through the necessary steps for using them. I then give you guidelines on how to distinguish among the different types of published articles and how to weigh their value for answering questions. Finally, I provide you with suggestions for obtaining the articles you need. If this is all new to you, I have supplied a list of journals related to applied linguistics in Appendix B for your perusal to help you get started.
