ABSTRACT
The term spectrum analysis refers to a detailed observation of the individual parameters of a signal. Although the spectrum of just about any signal can be analyzed, the speech pathologist or audiologist is typically interested in some acoustic event. For such events, the parameters of the spectrum that are important in an analysis are amplitude, frequency content, and phase. In the analysis process a signal can be displayed in two ways, or in what are sometimes referred to as domains.
